The First Few Days In Eswatini-
The Homestead we are staying at has three small houses. There is also a small gazeebo and a pool. There is shower rooms, one of which has no showerhead, but just a whole in the wall where cold water drips out. Their are many bushes and flowers around as well as several cacti and mango trees.
And you cant beat that view, at the moment I am writing this I am sitting, on a swinging chair on a porch with the expanse of the countryside before me. the rolling hills are blooming with lush green trees. Veins of red roads weave their way around the whole valley. Collossal clouds billow across the great blue dome of the sky.
There many animals around, there are chickens with their chicks, mangy dogs, and an endless chorus of song birds. Every morning that is what we wake to, golden sunshine and birdsong.
This is where we spend our down time. On our days of rest this place is our kingdom.
We arrived at night the first day, so we all just filed into our respective houses piled our stuff on the floor, and crashed in a bed for the first time in two weeks. (During Training Camp, we all slept on the floor, after two weeks of that my back was in all sorts of pain, so I was very greatful for the bed.)
The next day we went for the market, got some supplies and went out and prayed for people. I was filled with the Joy of the Lord. We prayed for a woman with no legs, in a wheelchair. She understood very little english but asked for prayer for her and her wheelchair. We looked and saw that one of the wheels was broken. We prayed for her and actually fixed her wheel chair. Her smile was one I will never forget. It was such a small thing but God worked through us and I feel so encouraged that he blessed us by giving us the oppurtunity to take part in bringing his kingdom on earth as it is in heaven.
On Friday we set out for our first introduction to one of the Carepoints. We did some manual labor at first but most of the time we played with the children. We did our best to show the kids the love that God has given to us. Many of the kids had cuts and brusies and scars, on their feat hands and faces. One kid’s hand, you could see the bone of his knuckle poking out around bloody skin and tendon. These kids have no where else to be loved and accepted. I am honored that I was able to shine a little light into their lives, and hopfully they felt a little more loved. Megan one member of our squad, was by far the MVP of today. She played games, taught them songs and danced with them, it was awesome.
